Thomas Jefferson was ideologically inconsistent, hating the federal government getting bigger but also approving the Louisiana Purchase, something he probably thought he didn’t have the power to do

James Monroe developed the Monroe Doctrine, which probably could have started a war, had European powers actually taken it seriously. I’m not going to sit here and say they were bad presidents but they weren’t great imo
