Typical. It's been a rag for ages. It used to have some redeeming features - a great sports page, some good columnists like Jon Carroll, etc., but those days are long gone.
My husband has mild dementia so still likes to "read" it most days. And I do love some of the sports writers like Ann Killion and Scott Ostler. The editorial and political are terrible. Just high school level.
Yep. Killion and Ostler are good and are a few who've stuck around while the whole thing was degrading. But in the glory days it was Bruce Jenkins, Ira Miller, and even the supremely annoying Glenn Dickey. They were all top-notch writers with deep knowledge.
We will not be discussing Lowell Cohen. 🤣

It wouldn't be an Emily Hoeven opinion piece if it didn't include a few cynical comments about Democrats – and look out if she finds room for a pot shot at Newsom. She's a closet socialist and they complain constantly about Democrats
Don’t know what she is. Her reporting is often inaccurate and her opinions are just shallow rants. They definitely bash Dems from the left at the Chron, but this guy is running as a socialist with a third party! And she ends the piece bashing Democrats! Makes no sense. And yes they HATE Gavin.
