@guardtheleaf.bsky.social I was watching the Blue Jays game last night and there were lots of Blue Jays fans in the seats. This was the first time so far this year that I saw so many attending on american soil. Have you looked into that kind of tourism at all? If they already had tickets? MapleMaga?

I honestly haven't looked into any sporting events. There will still always be Candians crossing south, especially for sporting events. But they represent a small amount compared to the overall boycott. If there's a news report on it though please send it over my way!

There’s still lots of insulated people that are getting to do whatever they want. They figure it’s not their fight, or they don’t want to be inconvenienced.

I hope they don't get a rude awakening at the border coming back

I will keep my eyes peeled. I guess I'm the extreme, but I worry for their safety.

1. The Blue Jays are known to have the most road fans in the MLB, as they are Canada's team & Canadians everywhere go see them. Canadians living in the US, Canadians with US games closer than Toronto, will go see Canada's team when they're. The annual Jays series in Seattle gets more Jays.../2

2. ...fans than Seattle fans & people from all over Canada book their tickets a year ahead. Canadians will plan trips around going to see the Jays when they are anywhere in the US. There is always a sea of Blue Jays jerseys behind the Visitors Dugout & this year more Canadian flags than ever.

Both are true. I can understand that people pre-booked their tickets. I made the comment while the Jays were playing Colorado. As for the second reason, I was always proud of our fans travelling with the team, Seattle, but now is the time to choose safety over sport IMO...PS Go Blue Jays!

There's a chance they ordered their tickets well in advance as with some teams its hard to get tickets and packages on short notice. Next season will be a better indicator if this type of tourism continues. There are travel companies that specialize in this type of tourism. Once bought, no refunds.

There are also US fans rooting for the Blue Jays. I have friends and family in New England who root for the Montréal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
