again, i agree w this policy and i don’t think these adu conversions should stop! imo they have to learn to live with it. but when we make fun of these concerns as irrational we’re refusing the acknowledge the tradeoffs of this policy and decrease our legitimacy. someone gets the short end!
I agree with that. There are people doing that. Like I ride a bike in LA but I don’t expect these women to take up cycling, especially in bike lane less Ktown.
We're making fun of the advocacy groups that put out these videos when they should know better that the cost of a private parking garage is mostly/wholly offset by the rent reduction.
We're not making fun of randos. We're making fun of the LA Tenants Union (which doesn't even have a genuine claim to represent all tenants).
There were a few smug retweets that were just like “get a bike” and that’s just how the internet works. It’s probably not helpful, but it’s rare. And most people wouldn’t do that in person to someone.
There were some giggles at a transit meeting when the SAJE rep apologized for being late because he was looking for parking. Said that he drove bc he couldn't afford the $1.75 bus fare and we should make transit free. I think we should charge more for street parking
I wonder what the people who work for SAJE and LATU think while they are hitting their talking points. Someone who .used. to work for one of those nonprofits reached out to explain how they took the job right out of college (with loans) & didn't understand yet that the positions were wrong.
As they grew uncomfortable with the things that they were supposed to say in public meetings, they looked for other jobs. At a lower paying job that they feel good about. 👍
