Obama was a fluke? But Trump isn’t? I’m not saying racism isn’t relevant, just that it isn’t the variable that changes to cause the end of democracy in the US. The end of the middle class (yes, the white middle class!) is the trigger that turns ‘democratic’ racism into actively backing dictatorship.

When l see this and people ignore it, l feel like Semmelweis In Vienna with the two hospitals. Black Americans are the poorest demographic- they vote for Democrats. The rest vote R for other reasons. “Deliverism”, and Biden tried by giving lots of $ to poor rural white areas, didn’t change that.
Liberalism is failing because minorities want a share of it, and whites don’t like it. It was all fun when benefits and social safety net was white only, not when they have to share.
I am not equipped to argue all the details but there’s plenty of scholarship regarding this issue for those who are interested, and as a professional l am sure you know about it. To me, a class/economy only framework is a poor explanation of reality
