Agreed, the education system has sucked for a good while, even before the 🍊 abomination. I taught high school in the 2000's and it was bad then; has only gotten worse. Much of the problem was parents and accountability. Ridiculous SOLs didn't work. Parents have no business dictating school policy.

+ poverty (+no books in the home), underpaid teachers (except on Long Island), hideous school lunches, bias against teaching bec it’s seen as “women’s profession“….& underfunding bec both parties have treated kids & schools with the same distain as “entitlement programs”—as if they don’t deserve $ !

Wait! I forgot one of the worst things about the American school system: it’s more about indoctrination than creative enticements to learn. Stifling. Boring!!

All correct! Most male teachers made more despite the same experience and education. Added bus duty, lunch duty, no one wanting homework, parents focus on sports careers (what a frigging joke), poor textbooks, over crowded classrooms. Despite all that, loved the kids! Still have a bunch on my fb. 😁
