Agreed. My father was a B-24 pilot with the 15th Army Air Force (and a 30-year career in that branch); one uncle fought in the Battle of the Bulge & another seriously wounded on Iwo Jima. Not for this.

Absolutely!
Grandpa test-flew 24s. He took them at zero-altitude over Lake Erie for hours in January storms to ice them up all to hell, record the results and build procedures for recovery. 15th was very bloody service. Massive respect for your family. Have had the privilege to chuck 5 in uniform at Arlington.
My father had a lively "discussion" with a former B-17 pilot abt which was better--B-17 or B-24. Dad flew 'em both and was B-24 all the way.
LOL! Grandpa flew both too and his's log says he also liked the Lib more ,esp landing in high winds/low vis. However, I have had the honour to have once flown in Dame Vera. Your Yankee crates will NEVER match her Canadian elegance, lines, and haughty demeanor (and that sexy chin!🥰):
One uncle ran a Sunderland Squadron out of Alex. We lost a cousin in Italy (directing arty on Nazis). Grandpa was a test pilot who built procedures that saved air crew's lives. Dad hunted subs, my bro and Uncle rand NORAD, and I served at sea. Once you take the oath to fight fascism, it's forever.🫡
