Let’s have some context about “high inflation and interest rates”. How about inflation at 13.5% and inflation at 21.5% in early 1980’s? Interest rates at less than half what they were then and inflation topping out at around 9 is painful but seems like child’s play in comparison. Perspective helps.

Low income Americans are always the ones who struggle. They have to buy the basics - food, shelter, clothing - whether the economy is good or bad. It's gonna be the discretionary spenders who's gonna feel the biggest change because they are fueled by greed, not necessity.
