Crazy thing is he found the deer tick himself and took it into the hospital to get it tested when nurses had to ask him to open the container since he had his tick in a box.

thats so dumb. Here in RI they don't care about the tick, you just take doxycycline for two weeks and you're back to normal. It sucks but its an easy treatment, Ive had it twice

Tick is brought in to figure out whether it was deer tick or wood tick, or other species. It may be looked at with a magnifying glass. Different ticks might carry other diseases. But deer ticks are associated with Lyme. Deer tick nymphs are hard to find. Treatment is 2 doxycycline 1st day only.

It is possible to miss seeing a tick, get infected, but find another tick later. Also other diseases are possible. I has the classical rash of large red spots, but I teated positive for anaplamosis as well as Lyme.
