It might only need one.
Yeah but as long as my stocks are up, who cares???
Humans are the problem
100%
But but short term profit? What about the impacts on our environment? We are in a do or die already with our climate cities. What about the price of electricity? Using so much water that they tell people to take less showers? AI will bring major street warfare when people start losing jobs.
Well, we've got that already, so more of the same. . .
But this is what happens when tech bros are all megalomaniacs and both parties get paid from them and the press tends to be owned by these companies.
Happy Wednesday?
Hinton is wrong on this one. We don’t want AGI/ASI to be like humans. We want them to be subservient to humans. Imagine AGI with the capacity for jealousy, rage, addiction, love, insecurity. A mother might overly coddle, reprimand, or keep us barely alive and in hell out of fear of death/grief. NO
I think he’s wrong about longevity too. Humans who are 200 years, clear and healthy, are more likely to have a maturity and wisdom from living through violence, satisfying desires, chasing things, etc. Many would come to appreciate peace, nature, community, hobbies, spirituality - imo
To make it value humans it will need perspective, a place far from earth to develop & contemplate values. Earth is the only place humans can survive, while AI, in theory can survive anywhere. Ultimately it will see that there is no need to compete with organic life forms.
Don’t give it to joy eniles and toddlers with extremeist fascist ideologies. Act like a grown up Geoffrey
His solution is to program the AIS to make them “motherly” and have them care about protecting humans. I don’t think that will work.
Doesn't he know that the "tech bros" literally want a world where they don't have to rely on humanity for anything?
Has the world learned nothing from the Terminator movies? SkyNet and the rise of the machines? Anyone? Instead of killer robots, humanity may fall victim to A.I. instead if people don’t take measures to curb its progress and stop relying so heavily on it.
Yeah, but thankfully there's time-travelers and benevolent aliens with space ships to come and save the day.
I’ve seen enough sci-fi movies to know what I’ll do.
Will AI Save the Earth from humans? iask.ai/q/human-impa...
From the standpoint of all other living beings on this planet it might be intelligent to wipe out mankind.
Oh, brother. Talk about drama queens. AI is a waste of time, quite frankly. While y'all are investing your time, knowledge, and energy (literally, energy), the biological world is wasting away. That will be the end of humanity. I can't even get reliable internet. Give it a rest.
Guess we can tell those people working for protections against AI in the workplace that they can stand-down. No point on wasting their time on a waste of time. . .
Unless we figure out the power situation, we won't get anywhere close to that. But he isn't wrong at all. They are building this to make it "too big to fail" I'm part of this influx of money for AI projects. But most projects are absolute bullshit. Useless algorithms that won't help anything.
Déjà vu. The nuclear bomb.
