Depends on the setup. If it's a laptop with dual gpu's then they tend to run into more issues. On a desktop, it's not bad. I've been using Linux since 2007 or 08 with various nvidia cards, works fine. Also not a fan of Linux Mint, I prefer distro's with Plasma/KDE (using CachyOS nowadays)

Hey so I just checked turns out my graphics tablet does support Linux but only Ubuntu how's that with gaming? (I know I can google but I like to get feedback from actual people especially since my knowledge is 0) If it's decent I might actually switch

if you would like to check compatability on a per-game basis, protondb can connect to your steam account and show how well each game works (either natively or through proton)

I'm running Mint, which is based on Ubuntu, and it's been solid so far! Pretty much all of the games I have on steam that I've tried run fine, and some old ones were surprisingly easy to emulate (I got Battle for Middle-Earth 2 working, somehow)

I had a Lenovo legion I had gotten specifically because it had the onboard amd and a discrete nvidia and every Linux I used worked great once the drivers were installed but I believe fedora comes with NVK now by default and that is working good for most things finally.
