Humans don't adapt to their environment. They forcibly "adapt" the environment to suit themselves.
We move in, exploit the resources, destroy the landscape, and move on. 🤨
Not sure how you could conclude this. The same evolutionary pressures and time has been operating on all life on the planet. Why would it push all other species to adaptability but not us?
In South America the first Europeans found a tribe who lived basically naked in a wet freezing climate. Any one of us would die of hypothermia. I just think its interesting
We're becoming less hardy
Me too. I’ve had long discussions about it.
I think about the speech Smith gives to Morpheus in "The Matrix" where he equates humanity to a virus. I think about that and realize just how accurate it is.
We’ve been using technology for the last 50,000 years to actively decouple our biological adaptability to the environment from our ability to survive. There will likely be a price to pay for this, we just won’t know the shape if it until it arrives.
I think we humans are perfectly adapted to be living on Earth, we just built us an environment that we aren't made for at all. We should roam around in packs, hunt for food and gather a few berries or fruit now and then.
