“The ECHR isn’t Brussels meddling. It’s the foundation that protects you from your own government.” – The Bear on why leaving the ECHR would be a really Bad Idea.

Having watched how the legal and human rights of both citizens and non-citizens of the USA have been trashed under Trump 2 - that’s with a written constitution - I would hate to see the size of the bus that Farage would drive through our uncodified constitution, built on common law and precedents.

Very much this. It protects us from our own government as was intended after what happened in Germany.

And don't forget, that without the ECHR, the UK Supreme Court has no powers, unlike the US Supreme Court, to intervene in national politics and stop the elected Prime Minister and appointed Cabinet from undertaking reckless and inhumane executive actions.

Take away the ECHR & kiss goodbye to the gains on essential rights hard won over decades. It would not only be a catastrophic blunder but open up another stepping stone to right-wing authoritarianism. The hardest hit would be women, workers, LGBTQ, children, disabled and the poorest in society.

Farage constantly seeks to find ways of creating division and chaos by attempting to blame others for his shortcomings. He want everyone to look anywhere but at him and his racist hatred which he has used to fill the coffers of his bank account. He doesn’t give a flying fk about the poor in Essex

Have they published the proposed alternative rights bill yet. Have they considered that renegotiating the GFA would need the approval of the electorate in NI as did the original agreement. The constantly blow smoke up people’s ass and think we don’t notice. Maybe they just dump NI.

What’s in it for Nige? What’s his grift? It’s fairly obvious that he doesn’t give a monkeys about the people. Ask the people of Clacton if he has been a good MP? Has he been there for them? As a PM would he be there for Britain. Or would he just try to make money out of it?

Putin idolising fake patriot and master grifter Farage must be stopped from wanting to take away what little bit protection ordinary people have from the the likes of him and his ilk

I would advise these charlatans and the far-right shills that include former establishment media, now flimsy fantasy fiction for the rich to not even contemplate touching the ordinary rights enjoyed by all citizens enshrined in the ECHR. This is a power grab by the rich. Defend yourselves.

Interesting that it's always the political equivalent of a snake oil salesman who want to withdraw from the ECHR. And they say that they will introduce legislation to protect the appropriate rights. If you believe that, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Excellent. Thank you. The ECHR helps to protect everyone from the cruelty of authoritarian regimes. Reform voters be warned. Britain would be a far better, happier place with independent media, like Byline and their contributors, who write and report factual, truthful information. 🙏 support them

Fagend wants to minimise the state so the rich can do what they like. Unfortunately, large sections of the poor are helping them achieve it.
