I'm in the UK and they didn't offer anesthetic. Not sure if that's usual. I didn't even have pain meds apart from gas and air.

I understand the UK health system leaves little to be desired at times.

For non urgent things you can be waiting a while, but there is a 2-week cancer referral pathway in the UK. I've been looked after very well and everything has happened pretty quickly for me. And all free at the point of care.

Were you unaccompanied? To have the sedation in the UK you have to have somebody to take you home after. I chose to go alone and just had gas and air. But it was an informed choice and there was only minor discomfort. They found a tumor and I have surgery next week.

Yes you are right I went by myself. It was quite uncomfortable but not too bad. Hope the surgery goes well.
