I totally get that. We have a thing that "the cat likes me best" because she only goes into the rooms I'm in and if I leave she follows me out.

I don't know cats but in GSDs they always pick one person as their partner and don't even try to pretend not to play favorites. We usually have his and hers GSDs. In transition as we are, we can't get a puppy
