My child, a native English speaker who has taken Spanish classes for 1 week, is disagreeing with me - a native Spanish speaker, and my mother, a nearly 80 year-old native Spanish speaker - how to introduce himself in Spanish. Gen Alpha is going to take me out! 😟

It's hard getting those things that don't necessarily translate directly to English! When I was learning I struggled a lot with that.

I speak English and Russian ( as I’m Russian-born American) and I’ve been studying Russian for maybe 3 years. But I’m still not fluent. As I’m still learning the case system. And I have learning/spelling disabilities. But if I do hear it, I can understand a bit.

My child who has never been in an English-speaking country often corrects my English. I taught them to speak the language...
