When should one get their flu and covid vaccines to prepare for the winter respiratory season?

Flu shots for this year but not next year, with Covid you’ll have to meet certain criteria, this is what I heard. Well searching the web it’s difficult to get correct information, plus you’ll need to word your search the correct way.
