Yes, I should not have used shorthand. Countries can participate in the single market to a much larger extent than we do (Switzerland and Norway) and have a customs union with the EU (Turkey). You are right to correct me. Details matter. Thank you.

I apologise, but I am a pedant on these things.😁 The EU have ruled a Swiss style deal out as it’s a nightmare for them. The EEA/EFTA is excluded from the CU & we’d need unanimous consent of 31 countries (we wouldn’t get it). The EU proposed a CU, but won’t discuss it until the TCA talks.
