Slow week. Been busy w/ work and playing MGS Delta. But still a decent haul. Darren gets fun (still dark). Spike & D roll out a 5th flick (we should get a 6th soon imo). Balleriiiiina - solid but smells like the JW world's getting stale. And an okay UFO drama, esp. if you've not seen many of those.

Final Reckoning- underwhelming? Can’t believe it’s almost 3 hours 🫠 I was kind of disappointed by the villain in the last one so I’m not looking forward to FR.

Yeah. Shame for it to "end" on a whimper like this. It's just too messy and bloated. Doesn't help that it treats you like an idiot with so much exposition and flashblacks. Previous films had more exciting set pieces too (although the sub stuff was cool)

Run Silent, Run Deep was incredible. I don’t know how Robert Wise did so many things so well across so many genres. LA Confidential remains as close as you can get to a perfect movie.

It was my first time watching. So happy I saw it, should not have waited 12 years. Just as good as Shaun of the dead or hot fuzz!

Same. I heard it wasn’t as good as others. But maybe seeing it post age 30 hits harder. A lot of metaphors and such for growing up. Honestly all 3 movies are pretty perfect in my mind. Can’t recommend it enough.

The great screenwriter Leigh Brackett is said to have walked out of a screening of The Long Goodbye when she saw what Altman did to her script.

I haven't seen that one yet, but it's on my list...

Ron Howard topped the week for me. Despite a gripping story and an A-list cast, Eden doesn't seem to be getting much attention. But it's worth tracking down--if it's still playing anywhere.

Loved Caught Stealing. Great fun seeing both Clue and Hackers at the cinema. And Cure blew me away.

When I don’t feel well I want big, dumb, action.

Nice! I love Bourne Identity. Final Reckoning a bit disappointing eh? I haven’t seen it yet but was underwhelmed by the last one. Also the almost 3 hour run time is wild.

Yeah, if you didn’t love the last one you probably won’t love this one. The big action scenes are well done but everything else just falls flat. But I felt like I needed to check the box, so it got a watch. Definitely not one I’ll be coming back to.

Rewatched a pair of great movies, finally saw Dinner In America (it was amazing), and finished up with Toxic Avenger (it was fine).

Halloween25 continues unabatedly!

I thought it was fun, it has that Long Goodbye thing where they bring a fast talking 1940's detective into contemporary times. I liked it, but the plot gets a little convoluted by the end
