I agree it's not simple but joing the single SM/CU will bring a lot of the benefits and do a lot of the legwork for rejoin, without the political backlash. It also plants a pretty big flag on the pro-EU camp although I don't really buy into the premise of the UK having to choose a side between EU/US

I have a concern about food standards on the recent US/UK trade deal (if there truly is one 🤷‍♀️), but the devil’s in the detail (& we don’t know it, do we?).

The whole deal is odd. I could be wrong but my understanding is there is no change on food standards but US can export a small amount of beef to UK now as long as it meets UK food standards. Also there is questions on whether it's an actual trade deal legally or effectively just an MoU at this point

It is all very odd. No trade deals authorised by Congress (that I’ve heard), and a MOU might be it at best (remember Penny Mordaunt & her MOUs with certain US States - a big pile of nothing). Food security should be top priority imho.

Fair points, all of them.
