Great. How many times have we heard this before? So many times that I could write this piece myself, in my sleep. And it doesn't make a lick of difference. Nobody's doing a thing about it. All you can do is cross your fingers that it isn't you who gets shot for no reason whatsoever today.
I think that you should pass a gun safety course to purchase a gun. I also believe that assault rifles belong on the battlefield, not on school property. Further, families should try to check with each other to make sure mental health issues can be addressed. My 2 cents worth.

We should go one step further & hold the gun seller accountable if the purchaser is a threat to society. Everyone needs to play a part in the safety of America’s children. No matter what the NRA says, GUNS KILL &should be treated as a dangerous item with more policies &restrictions to acquire one.
The news said he “legally”purchased guns.There has to be a better way to perform background checks & delay the search. The shooter always leaves evidence on social media, home computers, &in this case you tube. Maybe they should have a family member co-sign to verify stability. We need to do better.

The problem is both access to firearms and the toxic gun culture.
Congress could raise the age for purchasing firearms to 21 today if 2/3 would vote. The age to buy alcohol, tobacco, cannabis is 21. Why not firearms? GOP Congress refuses to pass gun violence protection measures. Since Americans continue to vote GOP, this problem is impossible to solve.
Oh i forgot to mention one simple fact, this is a particularly American problem. In fact calling it a problem is wrong, it's an affliction. America is the only (so called modern) nation to experience gun violence events and mass shooting on a regular basis. That's a lot to own up to.
We've been advocating for sensible gun laws for years. You'd think people learn from history, that's been wishful thinking. It's not fucking rocket science, enact sensible laws, limit the guns, yes it's the guns. That said i don't expect any changes in the laws, if it happens i'll be surprised.
