Can you imagine anyone else in the federal government, or even in the private sectors, deciding to just shut down their office and take 5 weeks off to avoid their professional duties? And we’re paying for this asinine move by the GOP. Bet their voters are Pissed about this too.

Where’s a copycat when you need one? People are pissed and will eventually start taking it out on the GOP. They can’t hide from their constituents forever. Folks have lost a lot over their “votes”. A 5 week hiatus could trigger some.

No, we would be putting the company out of business and we would get fired. Then again, anyone accused of sexual misconduct in a private company would likely be removed and if HR (congress?) didn’t do anything about it they would be fired too.

They're trying to stop this from being the dominant story of the November midterms.

Where’s that favorite drum of mine The one that reverberates with distinction & speaks in consistent thuds Of more out spoken people to say otherwise

Aren't the midterms a year from November?

2026 is a big one, for sure. But 2025 has a bunch of special elections for house reps in red states and a couple gov, AG and mayoral races. With the thin margins, every single one counts

Pushing it off doesn't make it any less dominant.

It just angers people even more. It’s like walking away from a small fire while hiding out and watch as it turns into an inferno.

Well, let's HOPE that's what it does: we tend to have a memory like goldfish when something is out of the media for a few weeks...I hope folks won't forget this, especially after YEARS of tinfoil-hat types saying our government was run by a cabal of pedophiles...and then Trump proved them RIGHT!

After 15 years of federal service, one accrues 8 hours of vacation every 2 weeks (5.2 weeks per year)-4 hours during their first 3 years (2.5 wks), 6 hours from 3-15 yr (3.9 wks). Since leave accrues by calendar yr, they wouldn't have 5 wks until December. Fire them. Yes, we are p/o'd about this!

And of course we know they wouldn’t “waste” their vacation days for this stunt. No. They’ll chalk it up to some lame excuse GOP House members need to meet with voters and constituents in their respective districts. Town halls to explain their position on Epstein files? Oh, hell NO.
