what is the second reading for?
Standard legislative procedure in California cities. Everything is voted on a second time. 99.9% of the time it's uneventful with the vote being the same as the first reading
Ah gotcha. Ishii was pushing for it to be ASAP (July 8th) so I’m confident the result will be the same
If they wanted to increase it to 90 units per acre, how would that work?
Recap of Berkeley Middle Housing: - Majority of the 102 public comments in favor - City Council votes 9-0 to rezone most of the city's low density residential zones to 70 units per acre, ~8 homes per lot. Old zoning only allowed 1-2 Thank you to everyone who worked to make this happen! 🏘️ #berkmtg
woohoo, love to see it!
Is this all as of right?
Yes. Projects will be approved through the Zoning Certificate process (staff review) instead of having to go through public hearings.
