If the next Democratic presidential nominee doesn’t run on expanding the Supreme Court, I’m not sure what use that campaign will be to restoring democracy. This lawless Court must be reined.

Ehh, it’s better to expand the Supreme Court than to run on it. Moderate in the streets, freak in the sheets (oval office)

there will be no political capital and base to expand the court if we don’t build out the political capital and base to expand the court

Well if there’s anything the second Trump term has taught us it’s that you should campaign on the controversial things you do before you do them.

The Court doesn't need to be expanded. It needs to be UNPACKED after McConnell packed it and Justices violating the Constitution immediately impeached.

Wouldn’t that require 2/3 of the senate to remove the scouts judge? Seems unlikely

You think you can expand it more easily?

Yeah expansion would be easier than impeachment. Expansion is just requires a law to pass, that wouldn’t require 2/3s of the senate

There won’t be a basis for that since it’s already legally happened multiple times in American history. But I mean yeah that could happen cause this court is off the rails. But it’s still a more realistic chance than impeachment.

If Americans don't sweep this whole party out clean & dems don't pivot to fight like they are losing our whole democracy, it won't matter anyway the lack of imagination & aggression by those working on behalf of democracy is why those destroying it are winning - they lack neither.

We can only hope that reality has or will finally overcome decades of establishmentarian torpor in the Democratic Party over attacking SCOTUS ... Like so many other things it seems like it *should be* great opportunity for D candidates

A SCOTUS cheering for a dictatorship regime in the USA. Who knew? Looks like their decisions are the perfect recipes for the creation a future shit hole country that Trump’s loves so much. This is a spectacular debacle happening while Americans are fully aware of the terrible consequences. Shiiiiit!

There won’t be a next Democratic President, you people are betting on the party that has been ignoring and breaking all the rules with ZERO consequences, to suddenly play by them and risk losing?!?!?

Expanding the court is not the answer. Instead, set a mandatory retirement age and have a commission independent of politics to make judicial appointments. And do away with politically-motivated confirmation hearings while you're at it.

The same as all the stuff Trump is doing now outside the law. He has managed to sack government officials where he has no authority to do so and close institutions where he has no authority to do so. Trump has shown that might is right.
