I get the desire for ‘safe and respectful’, but sometimes conversations need to be robust. And ‘avoid language or topics that could be considered inflammatory, divisive, or disrespectful…’ is such a bloody catchall. All topics can be divisive. Just check any local Facebook group discussion.
The abuse here is not the discussion, but the conflation of legitimate criticism (of any sort) with bigotry. We need to identify the cowards who, hiding their identities, pressure the cowardly conference organizers into this. Both sides need to be exposed, and held accountable.
