scoop: NPR is mobilizing. In response to White House plan to rescind federal funding, NPR tells member stations it is pushing up its timeline. "We strongly urge you to communicate and meet with your Members of Congress this week."

Uninformed opinion here: thinking grassroots donors? Maybe the grassroots donors who've donated most 😬?? Could Google it but prefer figuring it out w others.

“grasstops” refers not to mobilizing the broad public (that’s “grassroots”) but to engaging a smaller circle of highly connected or influential individuals—community leaders, business executives, local elected officials, major donors, etc.—who have direct access to or clout with decision‑makers.”

“grasstops stakeholder activation” campaign means you’re recruiting those top‑tier supporters (your board members, advisory‑board members, prominent volunteers, business leaders, emergency‑services chiefs, etc.) to pick up the phone, write letters…”

“…make public statements or otherwise lean on their contacts in Congress—amplifying your station’s message through people whose voices carry extra weight in policymaker circles.”

Protecting, promoting and *funding* public broadcasting is a beautiful, necessary civic good that an advance society should be proud of. We should all help NPR and its ilk persist for future generations. Thank you, Ben Mullin, for helping get this message out.

I’d be a whole lot more enthusiastic about supporting NPR if they hadn’t spent the last few years sane-washing tRump over and over. NPR is called Nice Polite Republicans for a reason. Ironically enough, they are still in tRump’s crosshairs. Their coward may end up being their downfall.

Now don’t get me wrong - I don’t like having to take this position. I grew up listening to NPR and my parents still listen to it everyday. But expecting me to support them when they refuse to do their job of reporting the news accurately and instead pander to a man who hates them… Ridiculous.

You've free will *at least for now* & need not do anything that goes against your principles, & that is a good thing.

Non-profit news and information is important. Today would be a good day to make a donation to your local NPR station.

NPR has been acting like the victim in an abusive relationship with the Federal government for a long long time. It's a bit late for them to be trying this.

As a lifetime member of @npr.org I was disgusted to my core at how they continually attacked Biden and then Harris, and acted as though trump was just another, normal candidate. Absolutely vile. They deserve what they asked for, and they will get it.
