I tell people that I write gothic thrillers because thar's what my books are marketed as, and publishers don't want to spend money on promotion only for you to turn around and call it something completely different. But my novels are a lot of other things too: horror, crime, suspense, murder-mystery, spicy romance, and there is always a speculative element, be it super-natural, spiritual, fantasy, or futuristic. But let me tell you, if my agent or editor were to turn around now and say, 'Will you write an xyz novel?' I would still most likely say yes. I'd just try to write it my way.
