I’m thinking if I were an elected representative of my state, I would force my way into the building? Why do we have elected representatives if they aren’t ready to physically intervene?

According to NBC, they were blocked at the entrance and left. Why didn’t they call the Capitol Police? How can elected officials be denied access to government buildings? Congress oversees government.
