“Fewer bullets, more bullet trains” is the slogan we need. Although some comms professional will insist on the grammatically incorrect but pithier “less”.

Not just high speed trains, the local and metro services in Japanese cities are astonishingly good and very cheap. There is virtually no traffic in Tokyo because everyone uses the train.

Wait until you bring up depreciating housing policies.

Japan has inexpensive housing because they have no population growth.

Yeah, that's not so much an intentional policy as a consequence of declining population, as many other countries will discover in a few decades when the low birth rate starts outweighing the effects of immigration.

Low birthrates aren't going to outweigh the effects of immigration. That's why housing is expensive.

Give it a couple of decades. Even in the African countries which do still have high birthrates at the moment, they're on a downward trend. Eventually they'll drop enough that the world's population will peak and start heading downwards, and when they do, house prices will collapse as well.

They'll still want to live in western countries

Quite possibly. Even in the countries population decline is already happening, the effects are very location-dependent, with cities remaining expensive but the countryside becoming hollowed out, with abandoned houses available for virtually nothing left to rot because of a lack of local jobs.

Same goes for all EU countries yet the inflation of housing in some countries is staggering.

They have mass immigration so that your boss doesn't have to pay you more.

Not true. Mass migration was towards western countries and their housing didn't jump like ours in Eastern Europe. There are other factors here in my country, like adopting the euro and lots of money having gray-ish source needing laundering, but it didn't start now.

On top of that most of jobs migration affected are some unqualified shitty jobs no one wanted in the first place, even if they paid well enough.

To be fair, the buildings are depreciating in the US, it’s just the land appreciates faster than a building depreciates.

looool god I can't even imagine like, one time our houses stopped appreciating and the whole US economy collapsed. 25 banks went under. the gov had to juice everything just to keep us afloat. we might have better odds surviving nuclear war than a depreciating housing market 🙃

Eating meat is okay as long as you give them massages every hour of their life and sell steak for $150 a pound.
