Respectfully, I think they did. They just chose not to. There have been Republican presidents, but never this court. Always a choice, just like the Republicans in Congress there is ALWAYS a choice.

Oh it has the power. They're just choosing to empower the Republican Presidents. It's transparently authoritarian. The real question is why Biden, who possessed all the same powers Trump has been using these past 6 months, didn't expand the Court and fix this problem. Didn't imprison Trump either.
