With the caveat that I could be wrong about ANYTHING: The linked tweet connects it to Big Balls. I haven't seen a claim in the media that EC was directly involved this time. It's not materially important, except (afaict) it's lying for salience.

People seem to think, or wilfully imply, that the stuff went to a server outside the SSA. It was an SSA dev cloud resource that had open security findings on it. Inappropriate and stupid, and apparently howlingly illegal? But (surely?) FEDRAMP, and not the kid's personal Dropbox.

People seem to think, or wilfully imply, that the _action of copying_ was unauthorized. But the complaint says the SSA's "DOGE-aligned" CIO signed an acceptable risk waiver, overriding internal recommendations. Clearly within his authority to do. The complaint is that he did a dumb. Many dumb.

Maybe I'm being too literal, but words mean things and there's a difference between unauthorized and stupid.
