WTF @bbcnews.bsky.social ?
Looks like a case of hypernormalization. There's no cure, the creature is rabid and will have to be out down or it will just keep posting fascistic drek.
every time i log on i feel like i'm going insane.
Miscalculation?? Not for intended actions. Calculated and devastating, yes.
“we report, you decide”
1) No 2) Yes 3) Please fuck off, BBC
“These guys were voted into power so they must be right….. right?”
The right wing crazies are spreading throughout the world. Who would want to end up like Trump’s US other than the wealthy?
@nytpitchbot.bsky.social
Robert F Kennedy Jr has no point period! mRNA vaccines are the future of saving lives and preventing illness! That’s scientific fact!
Always just asking And never following up with facts
Just asking questions!
When did Rupert buy the BBC?
Are they afraid Trump will pull their funding if they don't sanewash this guy?
This is the BBC. I'm not certain, but I don't think they're getting any US gov funding?
That's what's baffling. Why else would they phrase the headline like this? It's the sort of headline I expect from the compromised NPR in the US.
i mean, i have been trying really hard not to get so angry that i have another stroke or whatever, so i unfollowed them and blocked them everywhere possible, but... this is a new low for them
A miscalculation. And that's being GENEROUS. JFK Jr is a power-hungry twit who will likely, inevitably, be hoisted by his own petard. 🤬
mainstream media is completely unequipped for dealing with someone in a position of power doing something insanely wrong and stupid
“we can’t take sides on a political issue” my brother in christ, you’re letting bad faith actors decide anything they don’t like is a political issue
I feel like I’m overdosing on crazy pills
BBC turning into NYT
"Is Oranges BLUE?! Read more to find out!!!" I fucking hate what most media has become to drive engagement.
Nothing more than an extention of #FleetStreet/Propaganda @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social #BBC does Bidding of hightest Bidder- Always mRNA Vaccines are probably the least expensive and Fastest to public Health Crisis than any other form ! JFC ! RFK Jr is a MONSTER It's only costing US $500 Mil
Do flat-earthers have a point on the earth being flat, or is flat-earth theory a miscalculation?
Does Kakistocracy make sense or is it a miscalculation to let it run rampant?
"Is RFK jr a complete fucking dumbass, or are we?"
The answer is both
Is there any media left that’s not just straight trolling people who believe in vaccination?
To be fair, they are saving a lot of money letting Grok write their headlines.
I can’t stand mainstream media word soup
90% of Big Black C*cks would literally have a better take than this. #BetteridgesLawOfHeadlines
JESUS FUCK
No! Not the BBC now too
Just us at the BBC asking stupid questions.
Betteridge's Law strikes again!
Did the BBC replace all its journalists with comedy panel writers or something
The inmates are running the asylum now. We just have to learn to live with it.
Ma'am I literally have bipolar disorder and never on the worst day of my life have I pulled shit even remotely comparable to what Kennedy does each day. The sane are running the asylum, just as they always have, and they're assholes, as they often are.
You're right, that was a rather ablest statement. My apologies. Gotta come up with better metaphors.
Hell yeah. Much respect. o7
The point is that he's a moron.
That better be the shortest article ever
Questions to which the answer is “no”
The BBC is now very like the New York Times - it still has the reputation of “sensible rational news reporting” but from 2016 at least onwards it’s being captured by the mad neocons - look at its deranged Brexit coverage along with fawning over Boris Johnson and now endless Nigel Farage reporting.
bsky.app/profile/cosm...
The BBC pride themselves on their impartial news coverage unless its got anything to do with Palestine, or the left. Basically, if it's right wing and horrible you'll get both sides of the story.
God damnit
could removing my own tonsils save me money?
Does he have a point! Ugh what is the world turning into when all medical advances are criticized
Because nobody in media has the courage to report the obvious truth anymore.
The actual story is pretty bad as well: Prof Adam Finn, vaccine researcher at the University of Bristol, says "it's a bit of both" but ditching mRNA technology is "stupid" and potentially a "catastrophic error".
Do conspiracy theorists have a non-scientific point or are they just wackjobs?
Et tu, @bbcnews-world-rss.bsky.social
So British.
At a certain point it’s really hard to see the value of all the uncritical both-sides-might-have-a-point “journalism” that’s just the most intellectually lazy exploration of maximally suspending disbelief for the sake of removing as much meaning as possible from reality.
Like, do we really need news organizations anymore if all they’re going to do is the dumbest possible shrug and the laziest “duhhh there’s no way to know who might be right!!!”? What value does this have? What’s the point?
Best read the BBC article.
@bbcbreaking-bot.bsky.social British Bullshit Corporation
BBC: have we been too hasty to judge eugenicists?
Why do they insist on both-sidesing issues that have very clear yes/no, right/wrong answers? Journalistic malpractice.
The BBC is deteriorating almost as fast as Trump
Obviously the average bbc viewer knows the science best 💀
Jesus Christ.
Just gonna "both sides" us all into an early grave
WTF BBC!
MSM is just a shitshow of spinning bullshit into plausible sounding/looking narratives
Stop Framing Disastrous Realities As Rhetorical Questions!
UKs very own CNN, gets their marching orders from the same people.
the yellow highlighter line was an accident but it kinda looks like someone pissed on the push alert which is appropriate
AI could never
If the strip turns orange, you're a right-wing anti-vax sociopath. Here's how you can find help …
more like the pee pee C if you ask me
It's RFK Jr. His sobriety belongs up there with mine or Hegseth's He probably wrote this drunk. As an alcoholic, I can respect a drunk who can admit it. Long as they own up and say, "I was drunk, I don't stand by that."
At least godamn admit to your own failures.
hey, BBC News, I piss on your push alerts
...and push on your piss alerts.
omg
A reminder of how well trickle-on economics has been working ever since that great man of the people Andrew Mellon started claiming it would in the Wilson administration.
"Could Hitting Myself in the Balls With a Large Mallet Prove to be Big Miscalculation?"
I grew up on the BBC especially the World Service but now...
"Human flesh: Delicious feast or too fattening?"
"Should one person own another?"
My editor always said ending a hed in a question mark is a cop-out.
We need headline reform badly
well now I know about betteridge
This NYTy both sides question headline needs to be retired when we overthrow the fascism
Sorry, UK. We didn't know it was contagious.
The capitalism?
Oof very “NYTimes”
"Everyone knows that pulling funding for mRNA vaccines is a mistake. What this article presupposes is: what if it's not?"
How brave of them.
As a scientist I know we need to do better explaining it to non scientists. mRNA vaccines have and will able to prevent so many severe diseases including cancer so this is absolutely ignorant
He was nominated by Trump, so maybe it's because he's incompetent.
Oh ffs... I suppose BBC is thinking clickbait. Whereas 43 billion people who like confirmation bias are saying "see? Even the BBC says it's a legitimate question!"
Book-burning outbreaks in Germany: we hear from both sides. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...
In the immortal words of Arthur Dent: "So this is it. We're all going to die."
"journalism"
NYTimes level shit take
Ummm ya think, @npr.org?
Does RFK have the right to kill you by pulling vaccine funding or do you just deserve to die cause you’re poor?
The Plague benefits society, actually.
I am very smart
What’s with headlines as questions? State your conclusion. Say what you’re saying. Jesus.
It introduces a knowledge gap, it's essentially the old media version of clickbait. You are being told enough to know what the topic is, but don't get the conclusion, so the hope is that you'll be intrigued enough to actually read the whole thing.
Liberal Ragebait
That is not what a BBC push notification should do though
I also just got this and I also said “what”
We need a BBC pitchbot account
Even outside of the… everything about this, “miscalculation” implies there were calculations, which seems incredibly unlikely.
british bullshit corporation
Oh Christ now BBC “man overboard “
Exactly!
In the future there will be SO MANY dissertations written about media headlines during this era.
this freak may be onto something: he was born with more money than us
One of the most braindead titles. What’s next: “Polio: is it really that bad? RFK Jr doesn’t think so!” or how about “RFK Jr thinks antibiotics are just a salve for poor health conditions. Maybe a healthy lifestyle cures all ills?” 🤮😵💫🤡
BBC be like
“I can get away with this headline if I phrase it as a question”
Assume the actual article is just a massive “NO!!”
betteridge's law of headlines strikes again
Betteridge headlines shouldn't exist. They only legitimize the incorrect position to be invalidated by the text body that most people don't read. It would be better to invert the headline: "Pulling funding for mRNA vaccines is a miscalculation, but RFK claims to have a point."
Yes, absolutely. "Before confirmation, people accused RFK of being a sociopath eager to kill, so far it doesn't look good for his defense" or something like that would be way better.
I ... what ...
No, and yes.
