Important clarification, multiple CDC sources tell me: Federal employees are not allowed to strike/walk out, so this is *not* a walkout but a "clap out" to show support for departing leadership. Current employees were either given permission to attend by a supervisor or used leave time to attend.
FWIW, federal employees aren't allowed to do a whole lot of shit, but a whole lot of them sure have been working overtime breaking the law since January 20. Just saying.
Idk. There's just a sort of quaintness about people being afraid to be fired for doing something illegal, when the people doing the firing care nothing of the law and will more than likely fire them for no reason at all anyway.

As the saying goes, there is no such thing as an illegal strike, only an unsuccessful one. Unfortunately, our federal union leaders don’t have the fortitude to challenge the strike ban or organize the membership to engage in *any* sort of direct action against the daily assaults of the trump admin.
Yes. Our Union (which the Administration has tried to claim is “dissolved” but is still obviously functioning) reminded us that any union actions or demonstrations have to happen during lunchtime or during approved leave. But the Union is still fighting!
Honest question - what is the end game here? With cuts to Medicare & research & firing scientists & experts, are they genuinely trying to thin the herd and kill Americans? Every day brings new concerns, but I’m worried most about public health. I wish Congress had the stones to impeach this nutjob.

Clap outs have happened at other agencies since the start of the second Trump administration to show respect and admiration for true leaders as they depart agency buildings. They are a lovely gesture, but do not carry the same risks as a walk out.
Many of those people are neighbor and community members, also. It was in multiple local Facebook groups to come out for it.

We are going to need to start taking those risks. How long do you play it safe at a mission driven agency that has abandoned the mission? I know it's hard when you have to put dinner on the table, but unions around the country should be supporting any fed walkout that does occur, 'strike' or not.
