I think it will be a much bigger mess than that. Trump rules now because of his popularity among the fascists. Vance may be his legal successor, but as we've seen legality doesn't matter. There is no clear TRUE successor, and Trump will never anoint one as it runs counter to his narcissism.

That's how I see it. The powers that be pretty much hate Vance and didn't want him. I can't see him accomplishing much, and in the meantime there will be a lot of infighting and jockeying for position rather than them being able to accomplish shit.

I feel like this type of politician is only limited by their personal sense of shame. In the old days, they'd be confronted and resign or withdraw, but that was never a rule. Trump has no shame, everything bounces off, it simply does not effect him. Vance on the other hand, is bullyable.

If we could keep up a sustained campaign of bringing up the stuff that really bothers him, I almost feel like he can be led along and not accomplish most of what he would want to do. Distracted by biting flies strategy. They try it with Trump, but it ends up just being entertainment for libs.

But they’re actually pretty ideologically splintered. You got MAHA yoga moms mixed in with Christian nationalists etc…. Trump is the center of gravity, not intellectually at all, but in terms of personality. Without a container to hold all their contradictions, things could take a turn for them.
