His death won't change anything. He'll be a martyr to the base. And the entire line of succession is equally rotten. His death should be a slow, painful, and public death. But I will still celebrate when the world is no longer plagued by his existence.

Honestly, I expect there to be "MAGA Civil War" after his death. Vance will take control, which will thrill the techno-oligarch MAGA backers, but not the base. If any of the Trump clan stake a claim as Donald's successor, a lot of the MAGA base will flock to them. Class-War MAGA may want a Bannon.

Christofascist MAGA may want a Tucker. Woo-MAGA may want a RFK. "Freeze Peach" MAGA might want a Rogan. Tankie-MAGA might want a Tulsi. And which entity will have the authority to command the loyalty of all Republicans in congress? I just don't see the needed unity without Trump.

I disagree. He is the poisonous glue that holds the cult together. Cults disentegrate when their charismatic leaders die. Who else could ever get away with what he has?

By being such a buffoon he actually limits the damage compared to a potential coherent cult leader. Worse could be to follow. Especially if middle eastern events ultimately lead to a 9/11 sequel - imagine the far right reaction to that.

TFG is not the origin of the cult. The GOP has spent nearly 50 years running psyops on the base to get us exactly here. The HF had a version of P2025 for Reagan who adopted over 60% of it in his first year and liked it so much he had it bound and given to his Cabinet. It's not new and will continue.

The base has been kept purposefully uneducated because they are easier to manipulate and control. The GOP fear-mongering and gaslighting work on the base for a reason. www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mind...

My degrees are in psychology and I know human behavior. I'm not guessing at this. It's based on research and available data.

Any opinions on how the US' bi-partisan system excites what might be called 'tribal polarization?' You might be more familiar with the concept, but from what I understand we act much more rationally when presented with a choice of three or more, as opposed to a binary choice. When the latter...

The polarization has definitely been the goal of the GOP for a long time. The Founders never wanted a two-party system and we had many parties in the beginning. Likely for many of the reasons we're seeing now. I'd like to see a shift away from the current system but that will take a lot of time.

We first have to bring everyone back to a shared reality because currently, one side is not living in the same reality as the other. Propaganda networks like Fox News would also have to be eliminated to make any kind any progress away from the current state of things.

We are also fundamentally different. Conservatives tend to have a larger amygdala, the fear center of the brain. Liberals tend to have a larger anterior cingulate cortex which is the activity center for empathy in the brain. www.scientificamerican.com/article/cons...

But, it has taken all that time to come up with the person who has drawn in people who would not be part of a cult. Who will inspire the lawlessness, total capitulation of morals that trump has? It was planning, yes. But also a perfect storm. Who is going to secede him? Who has his "pizzazz"?
