Since Gibbon we can ascribe the fall of the Roman Empire to the gradual disappearance of the middle-class values and economic vitality (a direct result from the autocratic regime). Incidentally, once it ebbed from its geographic apex under Trajan, trade imbalance with China also became a concern.

I legitimately think most data is 1/2 broken and therefore surveys are generally noise. Always a little truth…but this makes a lot of assumptions to get here. The amount of salary relative to the location does in fact matter
