Watch out for fake animal shelter accounts asking for money. I've been followed by about 3 of them today. Each one has a short bio, no website, and links to something like this on a payment site.

"Add zero to help cover fees". Yeah, that's red flag. It is sad how many scams are out there because that must mean some of them work.

“the streets” is funny to me because in my mind, as a Canadian surrounded by woods, animal rescue is about wildlife. So like… when a momma bear gets shot or hit by a car or something do the cubs hit the streets and develop a drug dependency? 😆

I live in an urban area.I have personally seen people throw a dog out of their car & speed off. I have a friend who works at a shelter. The stories she has told. People who cant take care of their dogs or cats have taken them to forest preserves to dump them. (More)

There were news reports a few years back of people tosding puppies off the top floors of parking garages. People move and leave pets tied up in their old house or tied up in the backyard. Or they take them to a shelter off hours & just tie them to the door. (more)
