I think he's had a stroke, and is debilitated to where he can't speak and is probably dwindling right now, and they don't want chaos from his supporters, so they're trying to delay and pretend he's fine.

I said that aloud to a friend a bit ago...your're probably right. They'll nut hard. I'm not even sure how hard.. could be dangerous or amusing...or both. They're working out some damage control, but they're stooopid, so it'll take a minute or two.
