It is an oversight but also I just find the whole game yikes tbh from the rat being squeezed till it turns blue all the way to the ending of the game

The ending of the game and the overall story is a trope in indie horror games as of late. The rat(s) being involved is also a trope about rats always knowing what really happened. The game is also designed to make you, the player, feel bad for your actions and at the end dislike the character.

It's about abusive men. It does not venerate murder, or spousal abuse. It shows the darkness of humanity. I also want to point out your comments about dogs/cats is already true in games. Not sure if you've say, played a Fallout game but dogs are often enemies.

Also you can get the perks inside fallout to not kill them, to befriend them instead of harm them

Just one example of many; Resident Evil 2, The Last of Us Part II, Stalker 2, several Call of Duty games, Pathway, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

In my opinion it’s a vile game and yes it is true in games but people often forget that because it’s a rat it’s seen as a pest or as lesser creature. That is the point I am trying to make across that because it’s a rat it doesn’t mean it’s any less
