If we chased compliance when taxing the rich with the same gusto we go after the small number of actual welfare frauds, we could afford to forget about the small number of actual welfare frauds, solve Medicare funding, and actually build low income housing.

But “more concerning” than the broken system is the lack of awareness about it in DEWR, the assurance review found. “… senior departmental officials with direct accountability for program delivery, system design and policy oversight were not aware of these deficiencies,” the review said.
