Just an aside. After 10+yrs🤺 I began training in Shotokan🥋 The parry positions translate immediately to the hand & feet. I regularly incorporated an appel, balestra, prise de fer, infighting & 2nd/3rd/4th intentions in competition...rarely losing. The 2 martial sports are beautifully compatible.
Husb was a tall, chess playing, x-country runner & left handed épée fencer. On more than a few occasions, he saw defeat through the opponent's mask as soon as they saw the reach of his left arm. They rarely saw the thigh, calf or ankle hit coming their way. It was three & done very quickly. 😎
