You people need to look into your block list problem, aka, mass shunning. People who use social media need to learn to block those they don't want to hear from. They also need to see bad actor accounts so they can report them. Mass shunning that makes subscribers into block bots isn't the way.

I can tell you that, verified, I see my email address at the top of the Settings pane with a green check next to it and a button to Change it. I don’t recall for sure but I bet if you looked in the same spot you’d see something.

Please rethink the email verification code type and panel entry. It’s unnecessarily complicated. The code doesn’t need to be confusing and difficult to type. It simply needs to work. Also, why does it require the ‘are you human’ captcha? You already know we’re human because of the email code.

If you elected to use alt text, it won’t let you post a pic unless you provide alt text to describe the picture. Add a picture, then before you hit post, select the little black “+alt” box that appears at the top of the picture and give a description of it (short & sweet 😊) then hit post

Certain formats it can’t yet. Like i believe the Apple high efficiency HEIC codec is one. Superb lossless compression but slow addition by other sites.

HEIC and BPG are containers for an HEVC intra frame. All image formats based on HEVC intra are patented because HEVC is patented until at least 2033. I'm pretty sure a lot of sites are waiting for the patents to expire before adding HEIC.

Is it possible to set up an auto troll remover? My idea was that new accounts were given such a low threshold for complaints, before they were auto muted or sandboxed. They would then have to take the initiative to get out, fill out a form etc, any hurdle to make kamikaze accounts difficult .

You can't get 'random checked' when you don't log in. It happens @ log in (so only with access) and it's checking that you still have the same email. That's what gets the fake disposable accounts, because they would have to maintain those for many accts. They can work around, but takes more time.

When you implement an anti-bot measure that forces people to log in or have their accounts deactivated you can stray into a paradox where real people & legitimate users can get unnecessarily punished if they cannot access their email or the app on a regular basis. Just pointing that out.

Tbh even if this works this won’t be a long term solution as bsky becomes less centralised. There will need to be autolabellers to detect this stuff. If it becomes impossible for them to host on bsky.social they will be able to use their own PDSes.

There are services that identify disposable email accounts. They aren't foolproof but it ups the effort required to circumvent the check.
