On Saturday, I was attacked by trolls who shidted over many posts. I hit the three dots, then clicked "Hide Reply for me," one by one. In the worst dump of each, I copied and reported. Every shidty post was gone, then I blocked them all. 2 days later, they no longer had an account. It can happen.

I found this place that lets you review a Bsky user block history and activity clearsky.app/caroline-bla... I simply block those that spread disinformation or use gratuitous insults. There are also curated lists that let you block users. No one should be bullied anywhere. Meantime we block.

Make it easy. Just have a network engineer write some code that automatically blocks any profile with maga, trump, or 🇺🇸 patriot in their profile. Half of them are bots and the other half are the reason advertisers fled the dead bird app.

If there is a way to help automate better reviews on hate speech, like phrases we could use that would allow faster sorting for review, I would love to know some. I try to leave keywords in the report box, but some people make a lot of awful/trolly comments.

There’s an extension that folks have written to filter out hate. Search for it. I found one for MAGA and one for hate and bigotry. There’s also a feature in settings about filters and moderation that is quite extensive. I stumbled on one today. They instantly blocked me. 🙌

Just a thought, but stackoverflow has shown a community made effort can work for moderation. I'm not talking about giving anyone power, but the flagging system with a high enough bar (10, maybe 100 flags) may help hiding problematic content as long as 'just created' accounts can not flag.

I worked at AOL on their Community Action Team, which moderated children’s chat rooms and reviewed every post that was reported, upwards of 100k per day. They used automated processing software that I wrote/maintained. It was a very challenging job. You’re doing great!!

just monitor hashtags that people are using to engage in illicit activity on your platform with images blurred. i reported a bunch of them a few days ago after i got a suspicious follow and checked who they followed and i was mortified. your lazy solution should not be our final warning.

The problem is that the actual illegal content usually uses tags of not illegal content, often mixing with generic porn tags. Meanwhile frequently those who use "problematic" hashtags, know that they are posting nothing illicit/illegal. This is unfortunately a job that requires in person checking.

Verification is baked into atproto. You can tie your bsky account to your website by adding your unique ID to the website (either in the DNS or at /.well-known/atproto) and changing your handle away from .bsky.social See settings > change handle
