Maybe his team were getting ahead of the news about the 911 call and giving aid to a person and providing that info up front? I do agree, it is a bit weird.

while traveling on the highway he was hit from behind hard enough to be injured? that makes me wonder if old man rudy slammed on the brakes on the highway or something and they’re trying to get ahead of this being his fault
