Vance's whole marriage is awkward. "I love my wife so much. I love her because she's who she is. Obviously, she's not a white person...But I just, I love Usha. She's such a good mom."

It sounds very much “Marriage is about looking past each other’s flaws” in which JD Vance’s case it’s him thinking his wife being brown and her parents immigrants are flaws.
Liabilities? The entire sentence was, "Obviously, she's not a white person, and we've been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that." So Vance cares what WS think (voting base?), or distinguishes those that give him crap about his wife from those that don't---so bad WS vs. good WS?
The only bad WS in his eyes are those that won’t vote for him.
