My kids have gone to 6 different schools in public schools, charter schools, urban and suburban cities and they have never ridden a school bus and my youngest who is still in k-12 never will. Also don’t get me started on Wednesdays being half days.

Only time on NYC we took a yellow bus was in elementary school on class trips. Even in high school playing softball. We were given a free bus pass and subway pass. To get to and from games.
Mine rode for like 4 days. No tread on those bus tires had moms figuring out a carpool fast. Also, afterschool sports/extracurriculars made it a non-starter at end of day. Town compensated with like $875 for not using bus.
Teachers hate half days too! Thankfully for the most part our district has eliminated them.
