why yes, the AP is PoE and yes, I have run 10m of ethernet cable from the switch on my desk to the AP in the garden and I am now covered in leaves and crud. But praise be, the bird buffet camera is now reporting a "good" connection, and so it bloody well should be.

Wind direction. Blows the WiFi signal away.

Doesn’t explain why my Bluetooth headphones won’t connect over a distance of 5cm INSIDE. That’s not wind, it’s attitude.

Shitty IoT wifi hardware is so shitty. My Blink module kept on falling off wifi despite being just 3m of clear air from the AP. It basically has no aerial, which I presume is the problem.

it's such a lottery: this camera is a replacement they sent me because the previous one stopped charging after just a few months. That never dropped the wifi, but this one has been such a pain. Bloody hope I've cured it now: it is literally right next to the AP.

How much have you considered getting a PoE camera instead? :)

honestly, if this goes to shit again I might just put a generic PoE camera on the feeder, but this one is part of the feeder and does fun stuff like tell me what birds are visiting uk.birdfy.com/products/bir...

I find it mixed. APs are usually fine, but some of the other devices can arrive with rough software edges. I've just bought a UDR7 and it definitely has some quirks

This new AP took several goes to adopt. Was tearing my hair out for a bit. Fine now though.

AP wifi 7 implementation has been sketchy but getting better On protect it’s getting a lot more love now and pretty reliable. The new sensors look promising but would wait and see Switches are pretty solid and lots of good options The new cloud gateways are great always hated the dream routers

yeah, I'm not going to swop out my wifi 6 APs any time soon. I don't have any devices that would benefit from a wifi 7 AP.

Yep, it's all Unifi kit! The bird camera is now locked to the AP and has a fixed IP address, and the AP is just handling the Garden network. If that doesn't fix it, nothing will.

At least your feed (hehe) is fun, mine is the world's most boring stream of a side gate that is padlocked and never opened.
