Absolutely right. Putin's goal is to reintegrate UA into RU because he has stated that Ukrainians are really Russian. Without achieving that goal, actual Russians in RU will see UA and question why it has a more democratic process, better economy and greater personal freedom… that threatens Putin.
That last line is in some ways the most telling. A U.S. president is acting as a facilitator for Vladimir Putin. He’a literally saying “he’s expecting my call after this meeting”. It’s absolutely extraordinary. And all because he wants a sodding peace prize.
