Now they're trying stuff like the H-2A visa program for seasonal workers, but it’s expensive and full of red tape. Others are switching to crops that need less labor or investing in machines that can pick produce but those don’t work for every kind of crop.

The bottom line is, farms are under a lot of pressure. Unless something changes with immigration or labor policy, it’s going to keep getting worse. Some crops are being lost, costs are up, and the whole fresh produce supply could be at risk down the line.
