Throwing off the chain of a hateful name is the first step to truly knowing your own worth.

I am from the generation that wildly popularized rap music and “reclaimed” the n-word. The rule that black people can use the word, but no one else can is still in effect at my child’s middle school. I hope Gen Alpha casts the word into the trash finally. It is a sad relic.

As a queer white person, it makes perfect sense to me.
